Customs officials intercept Shah Rukh Khan

Customs officials at Mumbai's international airport today intercepted actor Shah Rukh Khan while he was passing through the green channel without his luggage.Actor Shah Rukh Khan Khan was intercepted by Customs officials at the city's international airport today.
Khan, whose London-Mumbai flight landed at 11 am this morning, was passing through the green channel without his luggage.
When the officer on duty asked him if he possessed any luggage with him, Khan answered in the affirmative. The officer then told him to clear
the green channel with his luggage. At the time of screening his baggage, one electric kettle worth Rs 5000 was found. Since this amount does not exceed the permissible limit drawn by authorities, no duty charges were imposed. When the officer on duty asked Khan about his luggage, he said it is behind and so the officer asked him to clear the airport along with his baggage," a customs official told this newspaper.
looks like Shah Rukh Khan will continue to have trouble with the law. A case has been registered against superstar Khan by social worker Ravindra Brahme for disrespecting the national flag during the celebrations that followed the Indian cricket team’s victory in the World Cup final held on April 2, 2011.

Brahme had recently lodged a case against model Gehna Vashist at the Deccan Gymkhana police station for dishonouring the Tricolour by using it as a swimsuit in a photo-shoot in Mumbai. Gehna was arrested by officials of the Deccan Gymkhana police station a few days ago.
We have decided to start a movement against people who show disrespect to the Indian flag and if we find such people, we will start registering complaints against them without thinking of their stature," Brahme said. "In SRK’s case, I was surfing the net and on one website I found some pictures in which he was waving the Indian flag in Mumbai after India won the cricket World Cup on April 2, 2011. While waving the flag, he ignored the fact that saffron colour was at the bottom and the green colour was on top."
He said that Khan was a role model and an iconic figure for the youth in the country and so should act responsibly. "If he indulged in such acts, the youth will also emulate him," Brahme said.
The police confirmed that the case had been registered under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Insult to National Honour (Amendment) Act on August 14 after Brahme approached them.

Box office: 'Heroine' disappoints, 'Barfi!' still sweet

Madhur Bhandarkar's much-anticipated Heroine released with mix response. Although it was expected to get a huge opening and the producers released 2000 plus prints, the film didn't live up to the expectations. The trade feels that though the opening was good for a woman-oriented film, the film failed short of expectations.Heroine has managed to earn Rs 22.49 crore in its first weekend (Friday Rs 7.35 cr, Saturday Rs 7.41cr and Sunday Rs 7.73 cr) On the other hand, Barfi! has collected around Rs 57.14 crore in its first week and Rs 15 crore in its second weekend making its total to Rs 62.14 crore in the first 10 days.

An interesting study of the moolah raked in by woman-oriented films in recent years in their first weekend indicates Rs 8.82 cr for 7 Khoon Maaf, Rs 10.85 cr for Tanu Weds Manu, Rs 12.02 cr for No One Killed Jessica, Rs 29.89 cr for
The Dirty Picture, Rs 13.25 cr for Kahaani, Rs 6.28 cr for Hate Story and Rs 17.38 cr for Jism 2.
Girish Wankhede, official spokesperson of a multiplex chain says, `The reviews and the audience reactions for Heroine are mixed. And for Barfi!, the timely Oscar entry announcement has boosted the collections and in fact we are thinking of increasing shows at our theatres.`

Trade analyst Atul Mohan says, `I think both Barfi! and Heroine should have been spaced out as both are from the same production house.` Trade expert Amod Mehra adds, `Heroine has nothing new to offer and the second half is dragging. It is a depressing film and will loose at least 20 to 30 per cent of its investment.`

Kareena recently celebrated her 32nd birthday in London with Saif Ali Khan. Now the actor will be accompanying his ladylove to a screening of Heroine in a London theatre to check out the reasponse the film has been getting from Bebo's UK fans

Our source says, `In India, the film has been getting a mixed response. But apparently in UK, it is doing well. The film was entirely shouldered on Kareena's performance and she is very happy with the way it has turned out.

So she will visit a London film theatre and get live feedback from her UK fans. She has invited Saif to join her during the screening.`

Nargis Fakhri caught in a rat race

Nargis Fakhri is caught in a rat race - literally! The actress's kitchen is infested with the rodents and they are creating a mess.
Huge rat encounter in my kitchen! He saw me, I saw him - he jumped, I ran, he ate through my door! What is going on here! HELP," tweeted the "Rockstar" actress.
Getting traps, but what do I do with them after I catch them! Make a rat circus? Ate through the kitchen door! They got some razor sharp teeth! ahh MOMMY," she
posted along with a picture of her rat-nibbled kitchen door. But what’s this race about? Well Nargis Fakhri seems to be the most sought after actress presently as far as brand endorsements are concerned. While the actress has been receiving favourable response for her debut act, there are no two ways when it comes to her hot looks. If sources are to be believed she already has three brand endorsements under her kitty. The brands in question are Tata Motors, Parachute hair care and Van Heusen. There is no confirmation on it yet but an official announcement is expected soon.
Seemingly the actress has been in talks with these brands even before her debut film Rockstar released and going by the response to the film and esp. Nargis Fakhri, the brands have no reason to complain. If everything goes fine, she would break the record of her contemporaries like Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor with three brands at such an early stage of her career.

Paying the price

Not very long ago, Saif Ali Khan 'joked' that he was doing a romantic movie with Natalie Portman in the near future. Representatives of the Oscar-winning actress didn't find it funny enough and decided to threaten the Nawab of Pataudi with a lawsuit. Fortunately Saif apologised, putting an end to the matter.

Pregnant Natalie Portman has quit being a vegan now that she’s expecting. But the Academy Award-winning star still won’t eat meat. She has just stepped down from being a vegan to being a vegetarian.
The 29-year-old “Black Swan” actress, who turned to veganism in 2009, said she went back to vegetarianism when she learned she’s expecting “just
because.”
She told Q100 Bert Show in a phone interview, via usmagazine.com, “I actually went back to being vegetarian when I became pregnant, just because I felt like I wanted that stuff. I was listening to my body to have eggs and dairy and that sort of stuff.”
“I know there are people who do stay vegan but I think you have to just be careful, watch your iron levels and your B12 levels and supplement those if there are thing you might be low in your diet.”
Portman, who is expecting her first child with fiancĂ© Benjamin Millepied this summer, doesn’t know the sex of her unborn baby yet, but she doesn’t want to know either.
She said, “People can say a lot of things and they have a 50 percent chance of being right. I’m Jewish and I think in Judaism, there’s a lot of superstition around not doing too much before the baby comes.”
